The constant comparison social media tends to promote seems to be making our society ill with jealousy. Nowadays it seems as if most of the population is parading their fabulous lives on various social media platforms, which allows one to paint a picturesque (and often faux) lifestyle. It’s no wonder we sit and resent each other in so many ways. Jealousy can be a powerful tool that can easily either destroy your life or give you a better understanding of who you are and what personal changes need to occur in order to be the best possible version of yourself.

Jealousy, in my opinion, is self-dissatisfaction directed towards others. This quality doesn’t allow one to expand into the beautiful being they truly are. Instead, it is holding you back from having a life where you are actually happy. If you are ready to rid yourself of a not-so-great quality then I highly recommend taking the following steps in order to be jealousy free!

What to do

Acknowledge your Feelings
Jealousy can cause a slew of emotions that can be different for each person. We must begin by understanding the feelings that bubble up and then acknowledge them. This can only be done by being completely open and honest with oneself. By acknowledging our feelings we are essentially accepting ourselves in our many various forms. Thus allowing oneself to take the first step towards eliminating the ugliness that goes hand-and-hand with jealousy.

Ask Yourself Why
When jealous feelings pop up try to take a moment to ask yourself why and be brutally honest.

Start to make the Connection
Often times the jealous feelings one has can be intertwined with unhealed wounds from the past. Start to make the connections in order to find a deeper understanding of the self.

Release the Feelings
Let that shit go! Find a special way to release your jealous feelings, such as writing them down on a piece of paper and setting it on fire or screaming at the top of your lungs into a pillow (making sure to shake the pillow outside afterwards in order to rid it of the negative energy). Do whatever it takes to release jealous feelings that are not serving your soul.

Treat Yo Self
Making the choice to better yourself by following the above steps is a huge accomplish and a celebration is in order. You work hard in many areas of your life and deserve a treat now and then. It is up to you to treat yourself right!
