Hello! My name is Amber Magnolia Hill. I was born on February 8th, 1981 in South Lake Tahoe, CA, love swimming and being in water, and cringe when people write their own bios in the third person, so I finally deleted mine that did that.
Aquarian Dawn was born out of a desire to share knowledge about herbal self-care, informed feminine embodiment, and deepening our ancestral connections.
I am a mother, writer, teacher, and herbalist living in Grass Valley, CA.
My herb training includes: a year of employment in the Wellness Department at the Sacramento Natural Foods Co-op (talk about a crash course in herbal and “alternative” healing!), two simultaneous herbal apprenticeships in 2007 – one with Kami McBride and one with Kathi Keville, an in-depth clinical herbalism course with Matthew Wood in 2016, many classes attended at the Northern California Women’s Herbal Symposium and HAALo Herb Shoppe, countless books and articles read over the years, and lots of wandering in the woods and experimenting in my kitchen with herbal remedies.
Early on in my plant wanderings I came to realize that Herbal Body Oils were by far my most used form of herbal medicine. I started selling my handmade St. John’s Wort oil online in 2012, and in 2014 expanded the line to include other herbs gathered in the High Sierra. I christened these wildcrafted, organic bottles of healing magic Mythic Medicinals, and wrote an ebook that dives into the practice of using herb-infused oils to calm the nervous system, relax the muscles, enhance immunity, and practice sacred self care entitled Herbal Body Oiling: Ancient Sacrament, Modern Necessity.
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Religious Studies from UC Davis and am endlessly interested in exploring the depths of consciousness and how humans make meaning. Outside of academia, I have immersed myself in the study of recent genealogy and deep ancestry, psychedelic healing, float tanks, conscious death and home funerals, and empowered menstruation, sex, and childbirth.
